Hi everyone,
Happy New Year, Rowlett! 🎉 I hope you filled your celebrations with joy, laughter, and excitement for the year ahead. As we welcome 2025, let's embrace new opportunities. And, let's build on our strong community in Rowlett. It makes our city special.
Looking ahead to the week of January 2 through January 9, there’s plenty happening around town to enjoy. With library programs and winter sports, there's something for everyone as we start the new year.
I’m thrilled to share that the new sports section has received positive feedback from some of you—thank you! I’ll continue to refine and improve it with your help. If you know of any local games or events, feel free to share them with me so we can make the sports section even better.
Thank you for being part of Rowlett Roundup. Here's to another year of staying connected. And to celebrating our wonderful community. 💙
Warm regards, Kareem 📩 [email protected]

🔒 Rowlett Police Report: December 2024
The Rowlett Police Department's Incident Media Report highlights notable occurrences over the last week of December, offering a snapshot of public safety activities in our community:
Assaults and Domestic Incidents: Several reports of bodily injury and assault by contact within family units were noted, reflecting the need for heightened awareness around domestic safety.
Drug-Related Offenses: A significant number of arrests related to possession of marijuana and controlled substances were documented, including incidents on Dalrock Road and Bob White Drive.
Vehicle-Related Issues: Reports included driving while intoxicated on Lakeview Parkway and incidents involving stolen and recovered vehicles across Rowlett.
Burglaries and Thefts: Cases of burglary and theft were reported, particularly on Dalrock Road, Melcer Drive, and Magnolia Lane. These incidents underline the importance of securing homes and vehicles.
Mental Health Interventions: Mental health-related detentions were noted, highlighting the community's need for accessible mental health resources.
Comparative Insights
Crime Rate Trends: Rowlett’s crime profile seems consistent with Texas suburbs that have populations between 60,000 and 70,000. Cities like Coppell, Cedar Park, or Little Elm report similar types of incidents.
Safety Rankings: Rowlett has historically been considered one of the safer cities in the DFW Metroplex, and the reported incidents do not indicate a significant deviation from that trend.
Law Enforcement Responsiveness: The variety of reported incidents, from minor property crimes to assaults and drug-related offenses, shows active law enforcement, which contributes to overall community safety.
Conclusion
Rowlett appears to maintain a level of safety that is on par or slightly better than other Texas cities of similar size. Proactive policing, a strong community presence, and ongoing mental health interventions contribute to its standing. However, continued efforts in areas such as property crime prevention and community awareness could help further enhance public safety.
