😎 WHAT’S HAPPENING
Rowlett Shootings
There were many posts on Facebook and Nextdoor this past week concerning shots being heard in different areas of Rowlett. I had requested a call back from the Rowlett Police Information Officer (PIO), Jacqueline Vergara, seeking additional information. As of the time I am writing this, I have not received a call back. However, the Mayor did post on Facebook addressing many of these concerns. I have lived in Rowlett for 20+ years and have considered Rowlett a safe and great city to be a part of.
Road Construction
The ongoing construction at Highway 66 and Darlock has been challenging for local drivers. The current intersection is difficult to navigate, but improvements are on the way. Once completed, this project should help reduce traffic congestion and make our daily commutes smoother.
A friendly reminder to everyone: please drive carefully through the construction zone. Our workers are out there every day, working hard to improve our road infrastructure. Slow down, stay alert, and give the construction team the space they need to do their job safely.
Progress takes time, but better roads are coming.

⛸️ Free Ice Skating (weather permitting)
Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting Brittney Farr, Director of Economic and Community Engagement, at the site of Rowlett’s newest holiday attraction: a free outdoor ice-skating rink opening on December 7th! This exciting addition, made possible through a partnership with the Dallas Stars, transforms Rowlett into a magical winter wonderland. Conveniently located on Martin Drive near Downtown Green, the rink will offer free admission and skate rentals all December. .Free parking is available at the DART Downtown Rowlett Station, making it easy to join the holiday cheer. Don’t miss this chance to create unforgettable memories! 🎄⛸️

- Monday to Thursday: 9:30 am to 8:30 pm
- Friday to Saturday: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

The Rowlett Animal Shelter provides temporary housing for lost animals until they can be reunited with their owners or placed in loving forever homes. The shelter also handles all City of Rowlett pet registrations, and fees from adoptions, redemptions, and registrations help fund its vital services.
